Husserl is a 'metasequencer.' It contains 16 step sequencers that can trigger and modulate each other.
Each of the 16 step sequencers contain three sub-sequencers: a pattern sequencer, beat sequencer, and bar sequencer.

Pattern Sequencers
The 16 pattern sequencers each contain their own:
Tempo divider with shuffle
Rhythm filter, input note filter, and output note filter
Multiple trigger mode and gate mode selections
Pitch, velocity, and duration patterns
Modulation Matrix
Recorder
MIDI controller and I/O routings
Pitch mapping
Chords and Note Filters
Chord generators in each of the 16 step sequencers add two additional notes to each pattern step in each step sequencer.
Note filters in each step sequencer can clip, mirror, and permute input notes from MIDI or the modulation matrix, or change the output notes.
Beat Sequencers
Each sequencer can accept triggers from the global clock, MIDI, or other sequencers. The beat sequencers filter down the triggers from the clock divider, MIDI, or trigger matrix into beat patterns.
Clock jitter can also add a human feel to clock patterns, applying a different amount of randomness to each note from the chord generators, for example.
Bar Sequencers
Each of the 16 pattern sequencers also has its own bar sequencer. The 16 bar sequencers can alter the pitch, velocity, duration, and tempo of each pattern once each pattern cycle, repeating each of its bars its a variable number of times.
MIDI Input
MIDI notes can trigger and gate each of the 16 pattern sequencers, either stepping, looping, or playing the pattern as a fugue upon receiving one input note. In fugue mode, the fugues can overlap polyphonically (each trigger starts playing the pattern again at a time offset).
Intermodulation
Each pattern sequencer can also receive triggers and gates from any combination of the other sequencers. Also, each sequencer can also modulate the pitch, velocity, and duration of any notes playing in any other sequencers. Any combination of patterns can trigger and modulate any other.
Output Crossbar
Via the output crossbar, any combination of the 16 sequencers can output to any combination of 20 separate polyphonic instruments. The maximum number of voices for each output is settable in the ensemble. Each pattern and channel is fully polyphonic.
