Electric PanelNovember 05, 2009 Panel ControlsThe panel is arranged so that the most effective controls are easily accessible and clearly located in separate subpanels. The following topics describe each of the subpanels in turn. VoicesThis Electric subpanel sets and displays incoming pitch and MIDI data. TuneSets the master tuning over a +/-1 octave range, in semitone intervals, applied after glide and bend. GlideSets the rate of glide between successive notes in monophonic mode, or notes of the same number in poly mode. The range is like that of an ADSR envelope control. PbSets pitch bend from the panel. MwSets the mod wheel from the panel. LFOsThe two LFO subpanels in Electric are labeled MG1 and MG2 in the instrument. Wheel > Amp ModA small button in each of the two subpanel header areas enables control of the LFO amplitude by the mod wheel. RateSets the LFO frequency. The frequency scale depends on the SNC setting. WidthVaries the aspect ratio of the LFO duty cycle in the range -100% to +100% Tri/Pls/Sh/BrSets the LFO waveform type. Thew label over the knob displays the selected waveform type:
SncControls how the LFO resets. When both SNC buttons are off, the LFO is free running. When the top button is on, the LFO syncs with incoming SONGPOS markers, and the RATE knob sets the LFO frequency in tempo divisions. When the bottom button is on, the LFO syncs with incoming note-on events. Each voice may then be in a different phase. ControlsThis Electric subpanel provides XY mouse control and sets the modulation matrix routing. Source 1-5Selects the modulation source for each of the five rows. The options are:
Amt 1-5Sets the amount of modulation for each of the five rows as a percentage, in the range -100 to +100. Negative values invert the modulation. Dest 1-5Selects the modulation destination for each of the five rows. The options are:
XY PanelSets the input for mouse XY modulation into the modulation matrix. WaveformsThis Electric subpanel provides control of the oscillator and noise sound sources. Sin/Tri/Saw/Sqr/Pls/ImpSets the waveform. The selected waveform displays in text over the knob. Options are:
FmSwitch to enable FM modulation of Osc1 by Osc3. SncSwitch to enable hard sync of Osc1 to Osc2. KeyIf on, note pitch directly controls note pitch, otherwise the pitch of all three oscillators is fixed. DriftEnables emulation of analog oscillators by adding a slightly different amount of slowly varying pitch change to each oscillator. OperationsThis Electric subpanel modifies the oscillators and noise generator. Rng1 ~ Rng3Sets the octave for each of the three oscillators. FrqWhen COLOUR is on, sets the noise colour. DetuneSets the amount of pitch offset from oscillator 1. The amount, set in cents, is applied directly to oscillator 2; and the inverted amount is applied to oscillator 3. Tune 2-3Sets the amount of pitch offset for each of oscillator 2 and 3 separately, set in semitones. ColourEnables the color filter for the noise source. Turn off to reduce CPU usage. MixerThis Electric subpanel controls the pre-filter mixer. O1, O2, O3Sets the amplitude of each oscillator independently. O3 Filter SkipThe small button by the O2 label causes the output of oscillator 3 to bypass the filter, instead mixed with filter output from any other oscillators and noise after the distortion and saturation stages. NoiseSets the noise amplitude. On1, On2, On3, On4Switches to turn the three oscillators and noise off. Turning the sound sources off reduces CPU usage. FilterThis Electric subpanel controls the filter. DistortionThe small button in the top right corner of the filter subpanel header enables distortion when on. The distortion is level fixed. CutSets the base pitch for filter cutoff, before any modulation. ResSets the base filter resonance, before any modulation. Delay/Bw/--This control only has effect in filter comb and band-filter modes. In Comb mode, the label changes to DELAY and the knob sets the comb filter delay time. In BRX and BPX modes, the label changes to Bw and sets the separation between the low- and high-pass filters which combined make a band-pass filter. KeySets the amount that keyboard pitch tracking controls the filter cutoff point. SatSets the mix level of saturation added to the filter output. LP2/LP4/Zawi/BPX/BRX/HP4Sets the filter mode. Rotating the knob changes the label to indicate the current selection. Options are:
EgSets the amount that the amplitude affects the filter cutoff. Envelope 1 and 2This Electric subpanel controls the envelope generators. Envelope 1 is also hard-wired to control the output amplitude. The envelopes have the standard ADSR format. ASets the envelope attack rate. DSets the envelope decay rate. SSets the envelope sustain level. RSets the envelope release rate. MasterThis Electric subpanel is for the master volume and key mode. VU MeterDisplays the post-effects output volume. LvlSets the output level in dB. LegThe top button enables legato mode for both envelopes. The bottom button enables polyphonic mode when on. When off, all voices play monophonically, slightly detuned from each other to provide a fatter sound. 3-Band EqThis Electric subpanel controls the 3-band EQ. It receives input from the VCA and is pre-effects. EQ OnThe little button in this EQ subpanel's header enables both pre and post EQ. LoSets the level of low-frequency EQ. MidSets the level of mid-frequency EQ. HiSets the level of high-frequency EQ. InsertThis Electric subpanel controls the effect insert. Modwheel Insert LevelThe little button in this subpanel's header enables mix level control of the insert effect by the mod wheel. It is independent and additional to the modulation matrix. Select Chorus/PhaserThis list box selects one of the insert effects. Changing the setting causes different controls to appear in the INSERT REMOTE subpanel. SendThis Electric subpanel controls the send insert. Modwheel Send LevelThe little button in this subpanel's header enables mix level control of the send effect by the mod wheel. It is independent and additional to the modulation matrix. Send Delay/ReverbThis list box selects one of the send effects. Changing the setting causes different controls to appear in the SEND REMOTE subpanel. Insert RemoteThis Electric subpanel controls parameters for the effect insert. Different knobs appear depending on whether CHORUS or PHASER is selected in the INSERT subpanel. FrqSets the frequency of the dedicated LFO(s) for the effect. Delay (Chorus Insert)When CHORUS is enabled, sets the base delay for the chorus effect, before modulation by the LFO. Amt (Phaser Insert)When PHASER is enabled, sets the amplitude of the phaser LFO. Sweep (Phaser Insert)When PHASER is enabled, sets the base delay offset, adjusting the locii of the phasing effect. MixSets the mix level of the insert effect. The mix level may also be adjusted by MODWHEEL INSERT LEVEL if enabled in the INSERT panel. Send RemoteThis Electric subpanel controls parameters for the effect send. Different knobs appear depending on whether DELAY or REVERB is selected in the SEND subpanel. TM L, TM R (Delay Send)Sets the delay period on the left and right delay lines. Feed (Delay Send)Sets the amount of feedback. The two delay lines are separate and there is no cross feedback. Size (Reverb Send)For the reverb effect, sets the size of the room. Diff (Reverb Send)For the reverb effect, sets the hardness or softness of the room surface. Symm (Reverb Send)For the reverb effect, sets the shape of the room. MixSets the mix level of the send effect. The mix level may also be adjusted by MODWHEEL SEND LEVEL if enabled in the SEND panel. Send EqThis Electric subpanel controls post-SEND equalization. Note that the effects EQ is globally enabled in the pre-effects EQ section. LoSets the level of low EQ. HiSets the level of high EQ. GateThis Electric subpanel adds an amp gate at the end of the effects chain. Gate OnThe small button in the header of this subpanel must be on to enable the effect. HoldSets the time that the amplitude gate remains open after the note-on event. The gate can remain open for up to one second.
